Robotics Organisations British Automation and Robotics Association An organisation consisting mainly of large robotics companies and academics. Based at Warwick University. The Institution of Electrical Engineers, Robotics and Automation Professional Network A group of mainly UK university academics. Their website includes a "Who's Who in Robotics" and a list of "Robotics Research Groups". The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Robotics and Automation Society The IEEE is based in the USA but has an international outlook. The IEEE publishes academic journals such as the Journal of Robotics and Automation and the Journal of Systems, Man and Cybernetics. The Creative Robotics Research Network The CRRN is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council to foster links between universities, companies and artists. The network largely consists of UK university academics and artists. BIRONET The Biologically Inspired Robots Network organises conferences and workshops in the UK mainly for academics interested in using information gained from the real biological world to design real robots. Bironet is based at the University of Aberystwyth. The organisation was set up by Dr. Myra Wilson who was a judge on "Robot Wars" and an expert on "Techno Games". The Cybernetics Society A group of academics, engineers and scientists from industry, consultants and interested parties with an interest in technology and techniques associated with electronic engineering, computer science, operational research, the internet, networks, information, self organisation, purposeful systems and other disciplines related to cybernetics. The Society was formed in 1968 at King's College London. www.cybsoc.org The UK Cybernetics Club Formerly the UK Robotics Club. Set up as an information sharing club for amateur robot builders. |
